digital gardening
Origin
I have been looking at resources about digital gardening for about a week. Ever since watching this video about the subject. I find the concept interesting, and realized since I was a small child that I have always tried to do this thing. Whether that was making a personal dictionary of all of my interests, or this was a shitty notion page for my classes in college, the idea of combining everything in one space has always spoken to me.
My interest is also tied to my reflections on Dog Days which I need to spend some time rereading, but interlocks key ideas like The Wizard of Oz (1939) and Twin Peaks and "It's a Wonderful Life". My brain works like that too, and I wonder if it is a side effect of how trauma impacts a person's memories and reflections on the past. It strikes me as a really humanistic thing to do, to want to connect thoughts, ideas, and themes from all facets of one's life into a giant web.
A digital garden is an ever-growing location to build on my thoughts
Updated Thoughts/Concerns
The goal for digital garden seems to be the fact that I am able to converse with myself and my own ideas, which I do love. I think it is very helpful for me to be able to talk to myself, and to hopefully, someday, have a present audience to look as I publicly learn. The faults I see with this: why should somebody care about my digital gardening? how can I effectively share my gardening with others? how can I ensure I am avoiding plagiarism whilst posting references to other ideas and concepts?
As I further work on my digital garden, some truths have become clear to me: this is NOT a short term project that has a completion date, this is something that requires me to work on, slowly, over time. The more I am able to add over time, the more it grows slowly further and further. I have also finally been able to publish my garden, which is so terribly exciting.
