This is dedicated to the movies, as I cannot explain living in a world where they each have separate pages? Not to be confused with the comis which I cannot see myself having huge opinions on enough to write about here but wanted to make this clear here.

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army (2008)

• Abe Sapien my beloved
• I am a big fan of how similar this is to The Umbrella Academy tv show, it really has a specific campiness that is weird superhero camp
• What does Guillermo del Toro have for fish men? This and The Shape of Water have me...
• I also like that the world is already set up here, we do not spend too much time on exposition, that is always my issue with Hellboy in any capacity is that it requires so much explaining. I do not care about the explaining I just wanna see stuff happen!!!
• There's an early 2000s cynicism with preference to the past and older ways of consumer media
• fish fingers identify pregnancy love that lil fish guy
• this counts so much better than the hallow does for fairies lmao- the fairy use here too is tryly "fae horror" it provides us with horrifying scary fairy creatures beautiful
• cgi looks both really good and really bad
• this sentimentality of "the old world" is present in the villain characters, picking up tendrils of plot regarding unable to change for the times
• soundtrack ROCKS
• I am sure this is not the perfect movie, in fact I know it is not, but I love it with all of my heart and soul
• hellboy drinks a shower beer from time to time
• abe sapien is also a simp- is simp short for simpleton?
• the fae horror really ends with the beginning part but I am still grateful to have consumed this movie today... and to mysteriously count it as a horror movie even though... it defo is not
